Villa Vista Mar is located in the heart of Playa Ocotal, affording breathtaking views of the Gulf of Papagayo and the Pacific Ocean, together with offshore islands and distant volcanoes. The name Playa Ocotal refers to both the award-winning beach itself and also to the quiet, residential resort community that overlooks the beach and the sea. Villa Vista Mar is approximately 300 yards uphill from the beach and the crescent beach is encircled by hills and forests on all three sides. In addition to its beautiful homes, Playa Ocotal has a resort hotel with restaurants and dive shop. There is also a casual bar and restaurant right on the beach. Boats in the harbor are available for deep-sea fishing, diving, sailing, and sightseeing. Excellent snorkeling is available right off the beach. The forests of Ocotal are home to howler monkeys, iguanas, parrots, and plenty of other colorful birds. Residents and visitors alike enjoy early morning hikes through the hills.

Villa Vista MarPlayas del Coco

If you grow tired of the tranquility of Ocotal, the energy and excitement of Playas del Coco is just two miles down the road. Usually referred to simply as Coco, this fun and funky beach town has plenty of restaurants and shops, a large grocery store, bank, post office, internet cafes, etc. There is also a police station, port authority, immigration office, pharmacy and medical offices. A large commercial fishing fleet works out of Playa Coco and the local restaurants are renowned for their fresh seafood and Costa Rican cuisine. If you enjoy dancing, the discos in Coco stay open til the early hours of the morning.

Villa Vista MarLiberia

This pleasant city of approximately 45,000 is the financial and business center of the province of Guanacaste. Liberia is approximately 25 miles and a 40 minute drive from Playa Ocotal. Buses run daily from Coco to Liberia and back, and 3 buses a day make the trip from Coco to Liberia to San Jose. Liberia has several banks and grocery stores, lots of restaurants, plenty of small variety and clothing stores, and a new mall with a 4 screen movie theater. There is also a colorful open-air market every Friday overflowing with tropical fruits and vegetables.
